Originally written in collaboration with the UBC graduate song interpretation class, this song was premiered at the VISI Contemporary Studies program in June 2013. Despite the source of the text (used at the request of soprano Rebecca Paulding, who can be heard in the recording below), this piece was written in a somewhat optimistic spirit, meant to explore a child's joy--potentially, but not explicitly, in the face of suffering.
